The countryside is scattered with sunflowers, apple and plum orchards, sleepy little hill top towns and ancient villages. Most have a café or restaurant near pleasant arcaded market squares where you can sit and enjoy a drink, or relax over lunch. Once a week on market day they become busy bustling places with farmers selling their produce, everything from local honey to Tourtieres ( the local apple pie ) fresh herbs and olives, gleaming plump vegetables, colourful fruits, cheeses, hams and foie gras.
